Open Question: Why do so many people come to yahoo answers for reptile info, instead of putting in the effort of research?
They obviously have access to the internet, hence coming here, and with the vast wealth of knowledge available from breeders, collectors, and fanatics who have created websites, why be so friggin' lazy? I mean seriously, you would of thought they might have done every this research BEFORE acquiring the reptile. I've kept everything from ball pythons to retics, to iguanas, and never even dreamed of bring one home before i knew exactly what i was getting into, had a proper set up, etc etc. People do realize that it's this impulse reptile buying that is ruining the market, congress is seriously trying to outlaw the trade of reptiles because of people like that. arrive the hell on people!!! For real, this animals are kittens and puppies!! Do your G-D homework. *note i meant to type "this animals are NOT kittens and puppies". thank ya

Open Question: Apple iPod Touch, Rock Question, JB and Firmware Question?
OK... So my iPod Touch broke the other day (don't spray Windex directly on the device screen btw). I've tried repairing it by opening it up and keeping it in a bowl of rice to no avail. So I'm now in the market for a new iPod Touch. Unfortunately, Apple has the lame 3.1.3 software out on every of their new devices now to eliminate JB-ing. If I were to buy a brand new device with 3.1.3 software, would I be able to successfully downgrade to 3.1.2 and JB? I've read on the internet that you can no longer do this because "Apple is not signing 3.1.2 firmware anymore." Another option for me is to buy a device off of eBay in New or Used condition with the 3.1.2 firmware already on it. If Apple is no longer signing 3.1.2 firmware, could this option still work for me? Finally, if both of those options fail it is possible that I MIGHT have a back-up stored in Rock, but I don't know a lot about Rock's back-up system. What exactly does it back-up (besides a list of downloaded apps)? How can I know if I do have a back-up? Thanks. I can add more details, just ask. I appreciate any help I can receive! OK. Well I was just thinking, "How are you going to access Rock without JBing first?" lol. Would there be a way to access a Rock back-up without JBing? Or would I even need to? I'm thinking now it must be just a back-up of apps and settings. But feel free to correct me! Oh ya, and my difficult-disk steer on my computer recently failed after six years - just in time for my iPod Touch to die on me as well - so unless I receive extremely lucky enough to recover lost data, I have no access to software files. :/ EDIT: Why doesn't Y! Answers just receive an edit option... ANYWAY, it just occured to me that I have used my iPod on other computers, including the one I'm on now, so I actually might have keys needed on this computer?

Open Question: CASE 2: MARKETING STRATEGY?
Rachel was quickly hired out of the university during the dot-com boom to a company of 100 employees that ran an innovative social networking website. She was immediately put in charge of email communication to customers-both existing and potential. Rachel handled every online contact with existing users and was asked to market to these existing online community members via email. But she struggled with finding a balance of the right amount of marketing. With Internet competition growing everyday within the social networking websites, these users had plenty of alternatives. Flooding their email inboxes, she thought, wasn't the best way to attract them. Unfortunately, Rachel's boss had a different approach. The VP for Marketing wanted results – he wanted existing customers to upgrade their networking packages and follow through on advertisements. He told Rachel to be as aggressive as possible with her email campaigns. Rachel found subtle alternatives to the mass emails. She developed links on the company website to advertisements, but she was not getting the results her boss demanded. One day when Rachel arrived at the office, her boss said he had a brilliant idea. He said that everybody knew someone named Cindy Anderson, so they could send emails to their users from that name to trick them into opening the email, which would display a link to their website. What is you moral evaluation? Is there any ethical dilemma that Rachel faced? If you were Rachel, what is your moral disposition? Justify your answer.

Open Question: Age 22 and struggling to find financial independence, only thing I can afford is a gun for suicide, help?
Um... I'm 22 and I live with my Mom. During ages 19-22, I wasted time getting a two year degree that hasn't helped me at every in the job market. I recently quit a job that made me very unhappy (computer programming), and I'm currently unemployed. I've been looking for work not related to computers. Unfortunately, with my skills and worthless two year degree, I wish to make $10/hr. I haven't gotten any leads in two months of searching. I liked the idea of continuing my higher education, but I'd have to take out loans and I'll never be able to pay them off with my future career (psychotherapy). So I'm pretty much stuck trying to build financial independence by delivering pizzas. The greatest insult is that my career of choice (one that makes me a lot of money ((internet poker))), is severely punished by current tax laws. It may even be illegal. So, my source of income is pretty much invalid -- I need to do something else. So, what the fuck am I supposed to do at age 22? I'd rather work for $10/hr than blow my head off, but even that isn't an option right now. College isn't an option either. Basically, I'm stuck living with my Mom. I can't even afford to buy bread, butter, or a pair of shoes. The only thing I can really afford is a gun and some ammo. Please help? I'm sure most of your answers will be an insulting "receive a job". Yea, I'm doing that, and it's getting me nowhere.

Open Question: Tor + flash drive = winner?
Yes, I am asking a question about bypassing my school's internet filter (St. Bernard iPrism). Please read the following if you intend to answer my question: -No, I do not plan to bypass so I can access MySpace/Facebook/etc. Spare me the lecture, please. -Yes, I do understand the consequences if I receive caught. -No, I do not want to use a web proxy. Do not give me a link to "the newest proxy" that works. iPrism employs one of the most advanced web filtering technologies on the market, and your cheap web proxy will be blocked within days. I intend to use this to further my ability of writing essays at school. Specifically - while iPrism is advanced, it's also overzealous. It sometimes blocks sites that are completely legit, and some of the sites contain vital information for essays, research papers, etc. Also: have you ever tried to print a picture for a poster, or maybe find an image for your PowerPoint presentation at school? You can't when your school's proxy software blocks Image Searching, and most every images, period. On to my question (and it's a simple one, too!): If I install the Tor browser package onto my flash steer, and boot it at school, will I be able to circumvent this ridiculous censorship and finally receive some work done? Best answer gets a prompt choice, and your points. And may I say, Thank you very much for the help. :)

Resolved Question: I need your honest opinion about this job description?
Alright, so i am writing my resume and i want this one job description to be perfect since i am submitting this resume to time warner...which is exactly what i did at my old job (internet tech support) please be honest! I want this to be perfect! i do not like the first or last paragraph, any suggestions? thanks so much! and yes i will have the paragraphs formatted properly when i submit my resume. thanks! There were many responsibilities associated with this job. We had a big customer base mainly consisting of customers in the Southern California Market. My main role was making my customers glad by taking the appropriate steps to receive their internet up and running. This job required knowledge of computers, Basic Modem/Router knowledge, looking at modem signal levels, Assisting customers with checking the wired connections on the modem and the router, By-passing the router, Checking IP address and TCP/IP settings, Releasing and renewing IP address if necessary, Checking drivers, Web-Based Email, Pinging the IP, Third Party email programs such as: Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Mac Mail. I also did a lot of multi-tasking with work related programs such as: INav, Polaris, ICOMS, Notemaker, and CHSI Tools for checking the status of email addresses. I was required to notate every single account while i was troubleshooting with my customer, and using the work related programs to better assist them. If we have done everything possible to fix their internet with no success, we would use ICOMS to set up an appointment for a field technician to arrive to the customer's home.

Voting Question: Have you or anyone you know ever won something off of bidcactus?
If you aren't familiar with bidcactus, it is a real time auction site. I thought "how can they make money off of the auction items if they sell them for way below the market price" - a few of my friends had the same question. We every felt something "just isn't right". I finally signed up for this place and wasted $20.00 so I could feel it out. (One must bid at this place in order to receive the full affect of what I mean). I kept bidding and bidding and bidding. Someone would always outbid me. As soon as I stopped, it seemed that everyone else stopped too. It would be so easy to write a program that would pretend there are other people bidding, so they could suck up your money. every I have been through in the past and seen on the Internet, I no longer believe anything - especially if it is too good to be true...it usually is...or there is a catch. I will even doubt an answer to this question because if someone who is affiliated with that website sees this, they might answer my question with a "why yes I have won many things off of this site. It is a great site to buy things for cheap!" One last thing I almost forgot - I was doing this in the middle of the night when it is supposed to be easier to win due to less people.

Resolved Question: Perfectly Competitive Market Scenario?
In a tiny town, there are two providers of broadband Internet access: a cable company and the phone company. The internet access offered by both providers is the same speed. Voting Question: Legit work while i travel with my husband?
I really would like to find something that isn't a scam and doesn't require licking envelopes, assembling products or mystery shopping that I can do while I travel with my husband. His job takes us every over and I sit in the RV every day surfing the internet, doing graphics for fun, and now I have resorted to playing games every the time. Is there anything out there that can be done while we travel? We never know how long he will be at a certain job so I would need something that I could do via internet typing, tech, etc. I don't expect to make six figures but it sure would be nice to make some real money. I don't have medical terminology but would receive it if there was a big market that isn't horribly competitive. I can type fairly quick and have taught myself to do graphics. Any suggestions that don't guide me to companies that want you to pay in before they "might" send you to a list of potential employers? I don't care how boring or tedious as long as it provides decent pay for the type of work. Open for any suggestions. Thanks!

Voting Question: Best laptop to cater for my needs...?
I'm looking for a new laptop because the one I have now seems to be falling to pieces. At the moment I possess a Toshiba portege (tablet pc type) and though I have tried looking I don't have any idea of what the computer jargon means. The new laptop needs to: -be portable (need to travel from uni in the UK to home in Belgium) -have a decent battery life -a LOT of memory (am seriously running out of it at the moment) -have a dvd and cd rewriter steer. and basically will be used for watching films, streaming from the internet listening to music, and (sometimes) doing some university work on :p so needs to be quite quick. I've already done a bit of research and do not like the acer's because of the trackpad and buttons. Which one out of the numerous laptops on the market would you advise?

Help! I'm being plagued by viruses, phishing, spam and pop-ups. My Internet browsing and email programs have slowed to a crawl. I'm in the market for a good anti-virus program. I've looked a lot of them, but I don't know which one to trust. A few particulars: I'm running Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox is my browser. Here's hoping there's a really computer literate being out there who can help me. Thanks!

Voting Question: Does the Republican "Obama playbook" show the true side of Conservative politics?
Found Memo Reveals GOP Plan to Exploit Fear of Obama... In the blood sport of politics, you never want the other team to look your playbook -- especially if what's in it makes your fans look bad. A Republican National Committee fundraising presentation that hit the Internet Wednesday is just such a playbook. The 72-page document obtained by Politico's Ben Smith lays out a strategy to fan fears that President Barack Obama is moving the country toward socialism. The PowerPoint presentation uses the words "reactionary" and "ego-driven" on a page describing potential GOP donors. Another page, labeled "The bad Empire," includes the infamous "Obama Joker" poster and cartoon images likening home Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Cruella de Vil and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to Scooby-Doo. This slide from the RNC fundraising presentation cites "patriotic duty" as one motivation for donors, but also lists "fear," "reactionary," "access" and "ego."The presentation, delivered on Feb. 18 by RNC Finance Director Rob Bickhart at a party retreat in Florida, "lifts the curtain on the often-cynical terms of political marketing, displaying an air of disdain for the party's donors that is usually confined to the barroom conversations of political operatives," Smith wrote. The document came from a Democrat, who said a copy had been left at the hotel in Boca Grande that hosted the retreat, according to Politico. The GOP fundraising plan shows "the contempt that the party has for its donors," said The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder, who predicted Bickhart would be fired. "Massaging egos and trigger points and using psychological techniques like peer-to-peer pressure -- that's Fundraising 101. But you're not supposed to tell the donors -- or anyone -- that they're being manipulated," Ambinder noted. One of the few conservative commentators to touch the story so far questioned Ambinder's claim that donors are being manipulated. Citing the president's sinking approval ratings, Hot Air's Allahpundit said fear of Obama's agenda may well be "the key to big money" for the next election. However, the blogger acknowledged that "calling your donors 'reactionary' and 'ego-driven' isn't usually the quickest way to their wallets" and dismissed the bad Empire pictures as "stupid and amateurish." Americablog's John Aravosis singled out the image of Obama with his face painted white and the word "socialism" below. That alone, said Aravosis, deserves an apology directly to the president from RNC Chairman Michael Steele, an African-American. The presentation targets President Obama, home Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid with images even GOP supporters say are over the top. Steele, who's already having trouble with big donors, is also below flame for sending fundraising letters that resemble U.S. Census forms. Even before Politico's story hit the Web, the RNC sent an e-mail assuring supporters that Steele didn't know what was in the PowerPoint presentation and didn't attend the Florida meeting. "Fundraising documents are often controversial. Obviously, the chairman disagrees with the language and finds the use of such imagery to be unacceptable. It will not be used by the Republican National Committee -- in any capacity -- in the future," Communications Director Doug Heye wrote. "In many ways, the document is a parody of what liberals think conservatives are actually like," said The Daily Beast's Eric Alterman, who thought it went "far beyond any precedent for official party fundraising practices." "Uh-oh! Somebody found the playbook, and it's full of secret, bad GOP strategies that have been obvious to any human being who's watched any half-second of any news coverage at any point in the last 30 to 200 million years," he said. "Although the Scooby-Doo imagery is new, hadn't considered that yet." (Newell wasn't the only one struck by the strategic use of the goofy cartoon dog. From Firedoglake's David Dayen: "Whoever thought of comparing Harry Reid to Scooby-Doo, unlike 10 million Americans, draws a paycheck. That's the most I can say about that.") Salon's Alex Koppelman reported on one former RNC official who described the presentation as "ham-handed" and in "very needy taste" -- but not exactly unexpected, either. "Maybe I'm coming across as cynical, and I don't mean to be, but I guess from long years of doing this I'm not particularly shocked to look this," the ex-official told Salon. "I think that this is probably unfortunately a reflection of the state of political affairs today." Would adore to keep it shorter but it's just so difficult to exclude any detail of the unethical behavior of the Republican party. Sorry.
